First Deaf Student Astronaut

I graduated from Gallaudet University summa cum laude with a B.S. degree in Biology. During my undergraduate career, I was selected to partake in two internships: the NASA Academy at the Goddard Space Flight Center and the SpaceFlight and Lunar Sciences and Technology Programs (SLSTP) at the Kennedy Space Center.

I took on subsequent research positions at the National Cancer Institute at the National Institutes of Health and the CNS Neuroinflammation Lab at the University of Rochester Medical Center. I lived overseas in Sweden to immerse myself in the international Deaf community, where I held board positions within local, national and European organizations over the last few years

As a trained Human Rights Educator, I had the opportunity to connect with Deaf Youth from all over Europe. I am also a trained crisis counselor with the Crisis Text Line, a free and confidential text service available 24/7 to help those in a crisis.
